Norway’s Constitution Day celebrates the signing of the Norwegian Constitution on May 17, 1814, marking the country’s independence from Denmark after more than 400 years. The Constitution was inspired by the American Revolution and the US Constitution, and the celebration is a day of Norwegian national pride and unity.

With nearly 100 residents participating in this year’s festivities, The Hearthstone’s Syttende Mai event is one of our most anticipated and well-attended annual gatherings. It is not surprising given that after celebrations in Denmark and New York City, the holiday’s third largest parade in the world is right here in Ballard.
