Celebrating Sixty Years of The Hearthstone

 In Community News

February fourteenth marked a significant milestone for our community: the sixtieth anniversary of The Hearthstone.

During the late 1950’s, the Lutheran Council of Seattle, an organization comprised of King County and local Lutheran pastors, discussed the idea of creating a “Lutheran Retirement Home.” Articles of Incorporation were filed, and Officers and Directors were elected. Those dedicated individuals pursued their vision and purchased property in Seattle’s historic and beloved Green Lake neighborhood. Groundbreaking took place in 1964 and two years later, on February 14, 1966, the first Hearthstone resident moved in.

Throughout the year, special events will be held to commemorate this landmark anniversary. Our Board of Trustees will soon host a celebration of The Hearthstone’s past. Our Foundation Board will host an event this Fall that will take a look into our future and our residents will plan an event that celebrates our Community’s present.

A huge thank you to the residents, their families, our employees, Board members and all the stakeholders who help make our community the top CCRC in Washington State, and a wonderful place work and live.
