How We Help You Transition Into Our Independent Living Community
The decision to move to The Hearthstone can be both exciting and daunting. Whether you are moving across the country or across the city, once you have selected an apartment, in my role as Move-In Coordinator, I begin to answer many of your questions and work with you to ensure a smooth transition to your new home, including offering assistance on several possible fronts:
- Selecting a move-in date
- Connecting you with downsizing organizations
- Vetting and selecting a moving company
What Happens before Move-In Day
Prior to moving in, you will receive a resident handbook, which is your definitive guide to Independent Living at The Hearthstone. It serves as an excellent resource to introduce you to the “ins and outs” of your new home. Within a week before your move-in, I meet with key staff members in your apartment to troubleshoot any last-minute issues to be addressed.
How we help on Move Day and Beyond
On the day of your move, I manage all the logistics. If you bring more items than you need, we will gladly help you donate those items. Also, on move day, or shortly after, you are afforded four “staff hours;” the services of Hearthstone personnel who will connect and troubleshoot devices, and hang televisions, mirrors and art.
After Move-In: Acclimation, Orientation and Satisfaction
Once you are in residence, I am responsible for your satisfaction. In my role as Resident Success Manager, I lead New Resident Orientation with you and your new neighbors who have also recently moved to our community. I spend time with them and with you until you tell me not to, ensuring that you are accustomed to your new “neighborhood.” Beyond that, everyone will want a piece of you, and you will be busier than you were prior to your move. It is my pleasure to be here for you both before and after this important and exciting move.
